WHAT IT MEANS TO BE “GREAT”
All I’ve ever wanted was to be great,
But what does greatness truly mean? A question, so profound,
A vision held by each of us, in varied forms and bound.
Yet still, I aim for greatness, with sure procession.
For what is great to me, may be nothing in another’s eyes.
Some say fame, wealth, or power.
Things that are just a status that the world can see.
But greatness dwells not solely in grand acclaim, nor beautifully polished trophies, being proudly displayed.
Others will say it lies in humble acts, devoid of selfish aim.
But then who all will see that I’m truly great?
The weight of unfulfilled dreams presses heavy on weary shoulders. And still, the pursuit persists, I yearn to be and do and accomplish and exist as someone “great.”
