Mother

We drift apart like continents
Rifts between us so large, they could fit the earth

We weren’t always two nations at a cold war
Over differences

Your back buckled bearing my weight
Because my existence reminds you
Of all you gave up
For the idea of who I might be.

It’s a curse to love so much,
When you start living for someone else
You start killing yourself.
